On May 18, twelve of us headed up near the top of Green Ridge (4800 ft.), west of Sisters, passing through all the burned areas. Our group was made up of both newbies and old timers who were looking for the elusive morel. Despite all our eyes and a couple hours of searching, only ONE perfect morel was found. We did find nice Ramarias (corals) and one fresh Pluteus cervinus (deer mushroom) growing out of wood, but morels evaded us. It has been incredibly dry so far this spring until the last few days, so things will change rapidly up there now.
