Sarcodon imbricatus, "Hawk's Wing," has been added to the list of edibles of many local mushroom hunters. The bitter look-alike, Sarcodon scabrosus, less scaly and with a green tinge at the bottom of the stem, growing with lodgepole pine, can ruin your meal.

Oregon Black Truffle record!
At our “Survivor’s Banquet” on Feb. 8, Betsy brought in truffles to show her latest treasures. This Oregon black truffle was found with a truffle dog in the Willamette Valley and was about 15 oz.! Dr. Charlie LaFevre says it may be a record! It smelled a bit citrusy, pineappley and earthy.
