COMC September 2025 Meeting
| Mushroom season is starting and we have great things planned for fall. Our first meeting will be on Thursday, September 18, at 6:30 PM at Trinity Episcopal Church, 469 NW Wall, in downtown Bend. Please join us for a very interesting talk by one of our own board members and former club officer, Anne Ehrlich, who will share her fascinating research on the many ingenious ways humans use fungi. Bring mushrooms from your local travels for show and tell at the beginning of the evening. Learn about the new venue for Fungi Fest coming Oct. 11 and how you can get in free by helping! |
Commercial Applications of Fungi or Money Does Grow on Trees
Anne Ehrlich will present the September COMC meeting topic ‘Commercial Applications of Fungi or Money Does Grow on Trees.’ Anne joined COMC in 2015 not realizing it was the start of a new passion. She and her husband Peter love to poke around in the forest, and pursuing mushrooms provides a reason to get out and enjoy th natural world. We’ll be discussing how new discoveries and inventions related to fungi can improve the world, and how people and companies are leveraging the useful characteristics of fungi to clean up pollution and industrial waste, improve and change traditional building materials and for many other useful purposes.
